Strong in-house productions, unique shows, trend setting entertainment formats, big event programs and clearly increased news-competence: During the screening “The Big Picture” in Düsseldorf Sat.1 introduces its program for the fall and next year. Sat.1 managing director Dr. Roger Schawinski: “I am very glad that we can start new formats already this fall in every program area. Our program offer is characterized by the maxim to go own ways and as a matter of principle no to copy any already existing formats in the German TV market. This is a great challenge to our innovation strength and a clear guideline for the program development”. Below an extract of the most important new programs.
New claim, new design: Sat.1 zeigt’s allen “Sat.1 zeigt’s allen” [Sat.1 shows ´em all] is the new station claim, which will replace “powered by emotion”, used until now, from the beginning of September. “Sat.1 zeigt’s allen” stands for the growing innovation strength of the station, for its quality claim and also for the power of the brand Sat.1, making TV an adventure. Together with the new claim an on- and off- air campaign will start with the new station design.
Series and TV-Movies: Sat.1 further extends leading position Sat.1 presents new highlights also in the series area: For the first time Sophie Schütt, star of many successful Sat.1-movies, plays the main role in a series. In 'Typisch Sophie', being a single mother and clever lawyer’s assistant, she solves many difficult cases with enthusiasm, knowledge of human nature and good humor and also convinces her colleagues [Jochen Horst and Bernhard Schir]. The telenovela 'Alles nur aus Liebe' [working title] impresses with a strong story and a fascinating female main character. As of the beginning of 2005 in the hour before 08:15 p.m., the high-quality daily format, which is produced with great know-how, offers a real alternative to the Dailies of the competition and specifically approaches the generation 20+ . The in-house-produced TV-movies broadcast under the label “DER GROSSE SAT.1 FILM AM DIENSTAG” [The big SAT.1 movie on Tuesday] will continue to focus on current and credible topics in first-class quality. The genre variety of the productions will still be further extended - from thriller to comedy, from romance to drama.
Comedy: after 'Genial daneben' now 'Schillerstraße' The many times award-winning Sat.1 comedies are part of the most popular and successful ones on German TV. But Sat.1 doesn't rest on its laurels, it developes further innovative formats. In fall the most important new start is 'Schillerstrasse - Die Impro-Comedy', developed by the makers of 'Genial daneben'. Just like the Sat.1-comedy-arena 'Schillerstrasse' is also based on the high art of improvisation: a stage, a handful of top comedians and no film script. “Main tenant” Cordula Stratmann and director John Hudson are supported by top-class colleagues every week.
Show: socialtainment-format 'Kämpf um deine Frau!' a world novelty Sat.1 presents the worldwide unique socialtainment format already as of September. Twelve men fight for the lost favor of their wives and spend up to ten weeks in a camp separated from their mates to acquire virtues like sense of responsibility, self-discipline and good behavior. They are supported by the camp- “family”, consisting of a captain, a psychologist, a housekeeper and two coaches. Who doesn't show progress runs the risk of being picked out by the viewers. Will the men manage to change themselves and to convince their wives? Sat.1 viewers can follow the events in the camp from Monday to Friday eves plus a big prime time show on Sunday evening presented by host Andrea Kiewel. 'Sie sucht Traummann' [working title] is the new show with Kai Pflaume which continues the strategy of successful event-shows on Sat.1 starting in fall. Conceived as a big show for the whole family, broadcast live and presented by Kai Pflaume , 'Sie sucht Traummann' is about the encouter of a female candidate with several potential “dream men”. Kai Pflaume´s new show clears up sex clichés thoroughly because until the end one question remains open …: is the voted candidate really looking for a woman or is he homosexual?.
“Sat.1 News“: fast, reliable, relevant, understandable As of August 30th the daily main news at 06:30 p.m. will be called “Sat.1 News”, but not only the name of the program changes: as anchorman and head of information of the station Thomas Kausch will present the Sat.1 news in future. The new news-concept includes the extension of the information time slot by short news distributed over the day and “breaking news” at important current events. Studio and design of the program are also new.
UEFA Champions League: Live-events in the premium class Also next year Sat.1 will present soccer fans on all 13 days of the UEFA Champions League the most exciting live- events of the European king-class. The draw for the group phase of the UEFA Champions League takes place after completion of the qualifying rounds in Monaco on August 26th. Next to already qualified German champion Werder Bremen and FC Bayern München, Bayer Leverkusen still fights for a place in the competition. After the qualification round Sat.1 will decide which matches with German participation will be broadcast live. The station has free choice between all matches.
The FILMFILM: screen-hits non-stop As of fall every month at the weekend Sat.1will show an absolute unique movie highlight in the “FILMFILM”-time slots. Free TV-premieres like 'Nowhere in Africa', 'Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra' and 'Stuart Little 2' are included as well as screen-classics with audience share-guarantee like 'Forrest Gump' or 'Pretty Woman'.
Multipart-event: Big cinema made by Sat.1 Sat.1 offers viewers big cinema also with in-house or co-produced TV events. In fall 2004 the station shows one of the greatest love stories of all times: The multipart-event 'The Nibelungs', staged by the successful director Uli Edel with international star cast [among others Benno Fürmann, Kristanna Loken and Max von Sydow], continuing the tradition of the outstanding Sat.1-events. In 2005 then follows the great historical drama 'Die Luftbrücke' [working title].
